European Parliament approves new European Commission

The European Parliament elected the new European Commission by 488 votes to 137, with 72 abstentions, in Strasbourg on Tuesday. The vote took the form of a single ballot on the whole College of Commissioners, consisting of one Commissioner from each of the 27 EU Member States.

PPRD South Workshop on “Disaster Risk Reduction: Mechanisms and Methodologies in Civil Protection”

On 10 and 11 February, high-level decision-makers from the Civil Protection Authorities of the 14 Mediterranean and Balkan partner countries  will participate, in Cairo, to the first workshop for high-level managers, organized by the 5 million EU-funded Euro-Mediterranean Programme on Prevention, Preparedness and Response to Natural and Man-made Disasters (PPRD South) which has as one of the main objectives the increase of institutional cooperation between the EU and the Mediterranean countries.

QUALIFICATIONS FRAMEWORK WILL HELP PEOPLE PROGRESS

More than 50 experts and stakeholders from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and beyond will gather in Banja Luka on 4 and 5 February to discuss how the country’s emerging qualifications framework can increase people’s opportunities for learning throughout their lives at a two-day event organised by the European Training Foundation (ETF) and BiH’s Agency for Pre-primary, Primary and Secondary Education.

1.2 million EUR to support democracy and human rights development in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Through its EIDHR (European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights) program, the European Union provided 1.2 million EUR for 13 new projects supporting development of democracy and human rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Public call for civil society organisations by the Cidi project

The Cidi project (Capacity building of civil society to take part in policy dialogue, Bosnia and Herzegovina) is financed by the European Union (IPA 2007) and supports mutually beneficial dialogue between civil society organisations and governments in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
